Bioregional Learning Center Call — Sunday, October 22, 2023, 7:30 pm
For those interested in the Bioregional Learning Center, here’s a short note about our next call, and a couple of resources that seem important to share.
7:30-9 pm, Oct 22 – https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8283857296?pwd=Z2VZMjdwRGxrbXNKbmdZSFBDaVFnUT09
Here are some of the immediate opportunities we see for working with Ari’s property to develop a land-based education center that views the world through a bioregional lens:
- Multigenerational nature-based education
- Ecological restoration
- Permaculture and syntropic agroforestry
- Connecting regenerative projects and groups
- Equity and inclusion and opportunities for cultural immersion
- Opportunities for inner-city youth
- Local economies and right livelihoods
- Understanding more about our bioregion, its problems and opportunities and hidden capacities
In the context of increasing societal insecurity and instability, growing a strong bioregional coalition of groups and individuals involved in regenerative activities, from agriculture to economics to cultural evolution, is the essential foundation for a sustainable future. We have a unique opportunity to co-create a new model, in conjunction and collaboration with groups in the Great Lakes, across North America and around the world.
A couple of inspiring presentations that speak to what’s possible:
Roberta Hill’s Center for Ecology-Based Economy presentation on Bioregional Regeneration in Acadia (start at 6:55)
And the Design School’s video on Sacred Sanctuaries in India:
I hope you take the time to check these out, and join us for the call on Sunday to move these kinds of ideas forward in our own place.
